UPDATE on Emergency Water Outage - March 23, 2018

Repair crews are on scene at the water main breaks on Laredo and are working as quickly as possible to restore water service to our customers.   We expect water service to slowly come back on line late this afternooon for the majority of customers. For those customers without water and located off Ranchito Drive near the old golf course, water service could be restored as late as late this weekend to early next week due to the extent of the damage to the road.

For all customers without water, PLEASE SEE THE IMPORTANT NOTE BELOW:

Date:  March 22, 2018

POTENTIAL UNSAFE WATER ALERT

If you are connected to the Lake Don Pedro CSD water system and are currently out of water, please be aware that due to flood related water main breaks, when your water service is restored there is the possibility that your water could be contaminated

IF YOU ARE IN AN AREA OF THE LAKE DON PEDRO WATER SYSTEM WHERE YOUR WATER SERVICE WAS INTERRUPTED ON MARCH 22, 2018 -  DO NOT DRINK YOUR WATER UNTIL WE NOTIFY YOU THAT THE WATER IS SAFE

Failure to follow this advisory could result in illness.

Whenever the water system loses pressure due to broken water mains, contaminants can get into the pipes where they are broken.  On March 22, 2018 we had two major water main breaks caused by flash flooding. If your water service was interrupted on March 22, 2018, the State Water Resources Control Board, Mariposa County Health Department, Tuolumne County Health Department and Lake Don Pedro CSD Water System are advising residents in the areas of the water system that lost service to NOT USE THE TAP WATER FOR DRINKING AND COOKING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

What should I do?

·         DO NOT DRINK YOUR TAP WATER---USE ONLY BOTTLED WATER.  Bottled water should be used for all drinking (including baby formula and juice), brushing teeth, washing dishes, making ice and food preparation until further notice

·         DO NOT TRY AND TREAT THE WATER YOURSELF.  Boiling, freezing, filtering, adding chlorine or other disinfectants, or letting water stand will not make the water safe.

·         OPTIONS

·         Bottled (drinking) water is available at the Mariposa County Sherriff’s Substation, located at 9729 Merced Falls Rd, La Grange.

We will inform you when tests show that the water is safe again.  We expect to resolve the problem within two to five days.
